Blackbrick Switch

His hystory ...

The Blackbrick Switch was born from our need, as Lego Technic series fan, to simplify playing with the models and, at the same time, to make them "smarter" and more realistic .

It happened very often we weren't satisfied with the control of the model's movements, especially when they reach their mechanical limits at the end-stroke ... in this region the motor, the transmission parts and the electrical devices, are subjected to an unnecessary and noisy effort. Also the risk of damaging something is always there ...
Abandoned the friction gears alternative, with too unpredictable threshold characteristics, we decided to develop a very easy-to-use electronic device as a replace.

We had to think how to make the Lego Technic motors will stop automatically when a model's movement (i.e. an arm of a crane) reaches its maximum travel ... in both direction.

After trashing any idea about mechanical sensors activated by a model's movement, too unreliable and difficult to integrate into our Lego buildings, we choose to take advantage of the best the Technology could offer .

Our choice was oriented to "Hall Effect" magnetic sensors ...

It remains to understand how to put, even aesthetically, sensor and all the electronics in the building ... afterl a long period of experimentation and testing, at the end, were born :
The Blackbrick Switch, enclosed in a 2x4 brick
The Sensors, enclosed in a 1x1 round brick
The Sensors Magnets, enclosed in a 1x1 round brick
Which one is the Blackbrick application field ???

Every model, equipped with at least one electric motor-driven movement, can benefit of its use ...
Our passion for excavators and cranes made us appreciate its operation during playing with their "arms" ...

But ... the limits are in our creativity ...                        >>>>>
The Blackbrick can handle any of the Lego Power Function motors, except of the Servo-Motor #80004 that has a completely different kind of operation from traditional motors.

The Blackbrick isn't designed to drive more than one motor, if you have a special purpose in mind, please contact us .

The connection of the Blackbrick to the Power Function accessories is a very simple task ... just connect it between the Battery Box (or IR Receiver) and the motor with the equipped original Lego plug and socket .

The Blackbrick work with all types of Power Function accessories, from the simple Battery Box or switch to the 2 channels IR Receivers.                                                   >>>>>
Sensor and related Magnets tells the Blackbrick when it's time to stop the motor. They should be positioned at strategic points of the movements we want to control, one for each motor rotation sense.

Available colors : Red, Yellow, Blue and Black             >>>>>
For more informations about Blackbrick characteristics you can consult the installation Manual
